"Texans
for Peace"
is proud to announce our fourth annual
educational conference, this year in Austin, on October
11th
(Saturday). The event will take place at St. Martin's Lutheran Church,
centrally located, and will focus entirely on the subject of gang
activity --prevention,intervention, and disruption to education as
well as society. The conference is aimed primarily at elementary and
secondary educators, from both private and public institutions.
We are asking
for proposals at this time for workshops. Presenters
should email me, aburgin@texansforpeace.org,
with their current
curriculum vitae as well as a brief summary of what their workshop
would entail. Last year's event drew approximately one hundred people,
and we are anticipating twice as many this fall.,

Founder and President Laurie Wallmark has launched this blog to "foster in-depth discussions about public policy. Whether it's advocacy for LGBT-friendly legislation, debates about upcoming elections, analyses of new reports, or calls to action, you'll read about it on our blog."
Vice-President Xan Nowakowski, a political science major out of Columbia University and a public policy professional, will be the primary blogger. In addition, there will be guest bloggers sharing their knowledge and their passion. "We see the blog as a way to bring LGBT families and allies together for discussion of current affairs impacting the LGBT community," said Xan.
